Does a job offer still give CRS points?
Direct answer: No. 0 points, since 25 March 2025. And yes, it still matters — just not in the CRS.
What IRCC removed, and what it did not
IRCC removed the arranged-employment points from the Comprehensive Ranking System on 25 March 2025 through Ministerial Instructions. The pre-removal grid paid 50 points for most occupations and 200 for senior management, LMIA-backed offers included; candidates who already held an invitation were unaffected. The current grid was re-derived from canada.ca on 30 August 2026 and carries no arranged-employment row at all.
It did not touch the Federal Skilled Worker selection grid.

Both figures are correct on the same date, because they are different instruments. IRCC's own job-offer page scopes the removal to the CRS and lists the Federal Skilled Worker Program, the Federal Skilled Trades Program and some provincial nominee streams under "what isn't changing".
Where a job offer still counts
- FSW selection grid — up to 10 points, for an offer of at least 12 months at 30+ hours a week in TEER 0, 1, 2, 3, plus 5 adaptability points that follow from it.
- Federal Skilled Trades — a job offer or a certificate of qualification is an eligibility requirement, not a bonus.
- Provincial nominee streams — many are employer-driven, and a nomination is worth 600 CRS points. This is the route by which a job offer can still move a CRS score, indirectly.
- Proof of funds — an applicant authorised to work in Canada who holds a valid job offer is exempt from showing settlement funds.
What this means practically

Watch for a change
IRCC described the removal as temporary and has consulted on returning job-offer points for high-wage occupations only. Until that is actually in force it is not scored here, and it is not scored by IRCC either.
