RecommendedFor most studentsWhen time is limited

Pro Tip

If you have the choice, always go for the 6-month plan. It allows deeper learning, more practice, and better retention. The 3-month plan works but requires more discipline and daily hours. Both plans work best with structured coaching from EEC rather than self-study alone.

6-Month SAT Preparation Plan: Week-by-Week Roadmap

This plan is ideal for Class 11 students starting SAT preparation in September/October for a March exam, or in summer (May/June) for a December/March target:

3-Month Intensive SAT Plan: Fast-Track to 1300+

The 3-month plan is for students with limited time — typically Class 12 students or those who started late. It covers the same material in a compressed timeline:

Warning

The 3-month plan requires 3–4 hours of daily study. If your child cannot commit this time due to school or board exams, consider a later SAT date and use the 6-month plan instead. Rushing preparation leads to burnout and underperformance.

Good News

The data is clear: structured coaching with daily AI practice (EEC + Rocket DSAT Prep) produces 50–100% better score improvements than self-study alone. The ₹7,500 coaching investment directly translates to higher scores and consequently larger scholarships.

“I followed EEC's 6-month plan exactly — starting with algebra basics and building up to full tests. My score went from 1020 to 1430. Having a structured roadmap removed all the guesswork.”

— EEC Student from Surat, SAT 1430, admitted to Purdue Engineering

As you follow your SAT preparation plan, also plan for your English proficiency test. Most US universities require TOEFL iBT or IELTS Academic alongside the SAT. Schedule your English test 4–6 weeks after your SAT attempt so preparation periods do not overlap. For a comparison, see our TOEFL vs IELTS guide. EEC coaches all tests — ask about SAT + TOEFL combo scheduling.

Frequently Asked Questions: SAT Preparation Plan

Most Indian students need 3–6 months. The 6-month plan is ideal for Class 11 students (1.5–2.5 hrs/day). The 3-month intensive plan works for Class 12 students (3–4 hrs/day). Both plans work best with structured coaching.
One month is very short for significant improvement. Expect 50–80 points improvement with intensive study. For best results, we recommend minimum 3 months. If you only have 1 month, focus on test strategy, grammar rules, and Desmos calculator practice.
For the 6-month plan: 45 min Math + 45 min RW + 20 min review daily. For the 3-month plan: 60 min Math + 60 min RW + 60 min mixed practice daily. Weekend: full-length mock test every 2 weeks (6-month) or weekly (3-month).
Study both simultaneously from day one. However, allocate more time to your weaker section. Most Indian students are stronger in Math and need more RW practice — invest 60% of time in RW and 40% in Math if that is your pattern.
6-month plan: 8–10 full tests. 3-month plan: 5–6 full tests. Always take under real conditions (timed, Bluebook app, no interruptions). Analyse every error after each test — error analysis is more valuable than taking more tests.
Top free resources: Bluebook practice tests, Khan Academy. Top paid: Rocket DSAT Prep AI ($400 value, free with EEC coaching). Also useful: College Board Official Guide (₹800–1,500). EEC live coaching provides structured coverage of all topics.
With self-study: 100–200 points in 3 months. With EEC coaching: 150–300 points in 3 months, 250–400 points in 6 months. Individual results vary based on starting level, daily study hours, and consistency.
Accuracy first, speed second. In the first 2–3 months, focus entirely on understanding concepts and getting questions right. Speed comes naturally with practice. In the final month, shift to timed practice and speed drills.
Plateaus are normal. Solutions: (1) Analyse error patterns — identify recurring mistake types, (2) Change study methods — if self-studying, add coaching, (3) Focus on weakest topics exclusively, (4) Take a 2-day break to reset, (5) Consult EEC instructors for personalised guidance.
Self-study can work for students already scoring 1200+ on diagnostics. For most Indian students (baseline 1000–1100), structured coaching produces 50–100% better results. EEC coaching at ₹7,500 is extremely affordable and includes $400 AI software + free USA counseling.
