PTE is a computer-based English test. You speak into a microphone, type on a keyboard, and a computer scores you instantly. It tests Speaking, Writing, Reading, and Listening. The whole exam takes 2 hours. Results come in 2 days. It's accepted for study abroad (Australia, UK, NZ, USA, Canada) and immigration (Canada PR, Australia PR).
Is PTE accepted in Canada?
Yes! PTE Core is accepted for Canada PR and Express Entry since January 2024. PTE Academic is accepted for Canadian student visas. Make sure you take the right test - PTE Core for immigration, PTE Academic for study.
Is PTE accepted in Australia?
Yes! PTE Academic is accepted for all Australian visas - student visa, skilled migration, partner visa. Australia updated requirements in August 2026 with new component-based scoring. Writing and Speaking requirements increased.
Is PTE accepted in UK?
Yes! PTE Academic UKVI is accepted for UK visas. You need the UKVI version (not regular PTE Academic) for visa applications. It's a SELT approved by UK Home Office. Same test format, different test center with extra security.
What is the PTE exam fee in India 2026?
PTE Academic: ₹18,000 (including GST). PTE Core: ₹18,000 (including GST). PTE Academic UKVI: ₹18,000 (including GST). Late registration (under 48 hours): Additional ₹850. EEC is an authorized PTE registration center - we help with error-free booking.
How long is PTE score valid?
PTE scores are valid for 2 years from the test date. After 2 years, you need to retake the test. Plan your exam timing based on your visa/admission timeline.
What is the difference between PTE Academic and PTE Core?
PTE Academic is for study abroad and general immigration. It has Essay writing and academic content. PTE Core is specifically for Canada PR and citizenship. It has Email writing instead of Essay, and everyday English instead of academic. Same price, different purpose.
What is PTE Academic UKVI?
UKVI stands for UK Visas and Immigration. It's the same test as PTE Academic but taken at secure, approved centers. You get a URN (Unique Reference Number) that UK Home Office can verify. Required for UK student visa (below degree level), work visa, and settlement.
How long does PTE exam take?
PTE Academic: 2 hours 15 minutes (with August 2026 new format). PTE Core: Under 2 hours. No separate speaking appointment like IELTS. Everything in one sitting. Results in 2 days.
When do PTE results come?
Usually within 48 hours (2 days). Sometimes up to 5 business days if your response needs human review. Much faster than IELTS (7-13 days for paper-based). This is why many students prefer PTE.

What is a good PTE score?
It depends on your purpose: Study abroad: 50-65 (varies by university). Australia PR (Competent): 50+. Australia PR (Superior): 79+. Canada PR (CLB 7): 60-70 per module. Canada PR (CLB 9): 78-88 per module. Check your specific requirement before setting a target.
What PTE score do I need for Canada PR?
Minimum: CLB 7 in all modules (Reading 60-68, Writing 69-78, Listening 60-70, Speaking 68-75). Recommended: CLB 9+ for maximum CRS points (Reading 78-87, Writing 88-89, Listening 82-88, Speaking 84-88). Higher scores = more points = faster invitation.
What PTE score do I need for Australia visa?
Student Visa (Subclass 500): Overall 50, with Writing 54, Speaking 54 (August 2026 update). Skilled Migration (Competent): 50+ (0 points). Skilled Migration (Proficient): 65+ (10 points). Skilled Migration (Superior): 79+ (20 points).
What is CLB 7 in PTE score?
CLB 7 is the minimum for Canada Express Entry. In PTE Core: Reading 60-68, Writing 69-78, Listening 60-70, Speaking 68-75. Your overall CLB is determined by your lowest module score. One weak module can pull down your entire CLB level.
What is CLB 9 in PTE score?
CLB 9 gives you maximum language points for Canada PR. In PTE Core: Reading 78-87, Writing 88-89, Listening 82-88, Speaking 84-88. The difference between CLB 7 and CLB 9 can be 50+ CRS points.
How to convert PTE score to IELTS?
Approximate conversion: PTE 50 = IELTS 6.0. PTE 59 = IELTS 6.5. PTE 66 = IELTS 7.0. PTE 75 = IELTS 7.5. PTE 82 = IELTS 8.0. Note: Sectional scores matter more than overall for specific requirements.
What is PTE 79+ score requirement?
PTE 79+ is 'Superior English' for Australia skilled migration. It gives you 20 points (vs 10 points for 65+). With competition increasing, 79+ is becoming essential for PR approval.

Is PTE easier than IELTS?

Hear a 20-30 second everyday scenario (e.g., apologizing to a colleague, refusing an invitation politely). Then respond naturally and appropriately in 30-40 seconds. No templates work - spontaneous response required.
Is new PTE format harder?
