Warning

The March, May, and June 2026 dates are confirmed by the College Board. Fall/winter dates (August–December) are based on historical patterns and will be officially confirmed by mid-2026. Register at satsuite.collegeboard.org — never through third-party sites.

Spring 2026 SAT Dates: March 14, May 2 & June 6

March 14, 2026 — Ideal First Attempt for Class 11

The March SAT is the most popular first-attempt date for Indian students in Class 11. By March, you have had enough time to complete 3–4 months of focused preparation (ideally starting in November/December). The registration deadline is February 27, and scores arrive by early April — giving you clear feedback to plan your retake strategy if needed. If you are in Class 11 and have been preparing with a 3-month SAT study plan, March 14 is your target.

May 2, 2026 — Perfect Retake or Second Attempt

The May date works perfectly as a retake for students who took the March SAT. With 7 weeks between tests, you have enough time to address weak areas identified in your March score report. For Class 12 students who missed the March window, May is your earliest opportunity. Scores arrive by late May — well in time for summer university research with your EEC counselor.

June 6, 2026 — Post-Board-Exam Window

The June SAT is ideal for students whose Class 10/11/12 board exams conflicted with earlier dates. By June, board exams are over, and you can focus entirely on SAT preparation. This date also works for students who want a third attempt after March and May.

Pro Tip

The optimal strategy for most Class 11 students: take the SAT in March (first attempt) and May (retake if needed). Use superscoring to combine your best section scores across attempts. Start preparation in November/December for a March target. See our grade-wise preparation roadmap.

Fall 2026 SAT Dates: August to December (Expected)

Fall and winter SAT dates in India 2026 typically include August, October, November, and December administrations. These are crucial for Class 12 students who need scores for US university application deadlines:

← Swipe left to see more columns →

Fall 2026 SAT Dates — Application Alignment
Date (Expected)Application TypeDeadline Context
August 2026General preparationEarly enough for all application rounds
October 2026Early Decision (ED)Last chance for most ED November deadlines
November 2026Regular Decision (RD)Scores by mid-December for January RD deadlines
December 2026Late Regular DecisionFinal attempt — scores by early January

Warning

If your child is applying Early Decision (deadline: November 1 or November 15 at most universities), they MUST take the SAT by October. Do not gamble on the November date for ED applications — the score may not arrive in time. Plan ahead!

How to Register for SAT in India: Step-by-Step

Registering for the SAT in India is done entirely online through the College Board website. The SAT fee is just US$43 (~₹3,612), and families with lower incomes can apply for fee waivers through the India Scholars Program. Here is the complete registration process:

Which SAT Test Date Should You Choose? Strategic Guide

Whether you are targeting 1400+ for top-50 universities or matching your score to the right university tier, timing matters. Good News

The Digital SAT delivers scores faster than the old paper SAT. Most students receive scores within 13–15 days. You can also choose to send scores AFTER seeing your results (unlike some tests that require pre-test score sending). This means you can decide which universities to send your score to based on your actual performance.

How Many Times Should You Take the SAT?

There is no limit on how many times you can take the SAT, and most US universities accept superscored results. Our recommendation based on EEC's 27+ years of experience:

← Swipe left to see more columns →

SAT Attempt Strategy by Score Target
ScenarioRecommended AttemptsStrategy
Target 1500+ (Ivy League)2–3 attemptsFirst in March, retake May, final in August/October
Target 1300–14002 attemptsFirst in March, retake in May or June
Target 1200+ (good universities)1–2 attemptsOne solid attempt with retake if needed
Limited budget1 attempt (well-prepared)Focus 4–6 months prep, take once

The data is clear: students who take the SAT 2–3 times typically score 50–100 points higher than their first attempt. Combined with superscoring, multiple attempts almost always improve your final score. Start early in Class 11 to give yourself time for retakes. Read our SAT preparation plan for detailed study schedules.

“We planned March and May attempts based on EEC's advice. My daughter scored 1320 in March and 1430 in May — the superscored 1450 got her into Purdue with a $12,000/year scholarship. Timing made all the difference.”

— Parent from Ahmedabad, Daughter at Purdue University, Fall 2026

Remember: alongside the SAT, you will also need an English proficiency score for most US universities. The most popular options are TOEFL iBT and IELTS Academic. Plan your English test date 4–6 weeks after your SAT so the preparation periods do not overlap. Some students also consider the Duolingo English Test as a faster, cheaper option. For a detailed comparison, see our TOEFL vs IELTS guide. EEC offers coaching for all these tests — enquire about combo packages.
