Study Abroad

Common questions & answers.

General / Overview

Ideally, you should start **8 to 12 months** before your intake. For example, if you want to fly in September 2027, you should start preparing by August or September 2026. This gives you ample time for entrance exams (IELTS/GRE), university applications, and visa filing without panic. (Tip: Jaldi shuru karoge toh achi scholarship milne ke chances zyada hain.)

It totally depends on your career goals! For **Tech & High Salaries**, USA is king. For **PR & Settlement**, Canada and Australia are popular. For **Quick 1-Year Masters**, UK is unbeatable. If you have a **Low Budget**, look at Germany (Free Tuition) or France. We analyze your profile to suggest the perfect fit.

Absolutely! We don't just give you a list; we curate it based on your GPA, budget, and career goals. We categorize universities into 'Dream', 'Reach', and 'Safe' options to maximize your admission chances. We partner with 500+ universities globally.

Don't lose hope! While top-tier unis might be tough, many good universities in UK, Canada, and USA accept students with 55-60%. We focus on strengthening other parts of your application like your Statement of Purpose (SOP), Letters of Recommendation (LORs), and work experience to balance out low grades.

Both are great! **Bachelors** gives you 3-4 years to adapt and build a strong foundation, making settlement easier. **Masters** is excellent for ROI—you invest for just 1-2 years and jump straight into the job market with a higher salary. (Gujlish: Jo budget allow kare to Bachelors mate javu best chhe.)

It varies by country. **UK, Australia, and New Zealand** require a deposit or full semester fee to issue the visa letter (CAS/COE). **Canada** (Standard Stream) recommends paying 1 year tuition for higher success. **USA** usually allows you to pay upon arrival, though showing funds is mandatory.

Universities admit students at specific times. **Fall (September)** is the biggest intake with maximum courses and scholarships. **Spring (January)** is the second largest. Some countries like Australia have **Feb/July** intakes. Always aim for the major intake for better internship opportunities.

Gaps are okay if justified! If you were working, learning a skill, or had medical reasons, we frame a strong affidavit or cover letter. USA/Canada are more flexible with gaps if you have work experience. Australia is stricter. We help you present your gap positively.

Yes, you can! Many students apply to say, UK and Canada simultaneously as a backup plan. Once you get offer letters from both, you can decide where to file for the visa. EEC helps you manage parallel applications smoothly.

Yes, countries like USA, UK, Canada, Australia, and NZ share biometric data (Five Eyes Alliance). You must declare previous refusals honestly. However, a refusal in one doesn't mean an automatic refusal in another—we just need to address it properly in your new application.

USA

STEM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics. The biggest benefit of a STEM degree in the USA is the **3-Year OPT (Work Permit)**. Non-STEM degrees only get 1 year. This gives you 3 attempts at the H1B visa lottery! (Tip: Most Indians choose STEM for this exact reason.)

It's a mix. Top tier universities (Ivy League, CMU, Georgia Tech) have largely reinstated GRE. Mid-tier universities might still be 'Test Optional'. However, a good GRE score (310+) is the best way to secure **Scholarships** and prove academic intent to the Visa Officer.

The I-20 is the most critical document. It's the 'Certificate of Eligibility' issued by the US university. It proves you are admitted and have enough funds. You cannot book a US Visa interview without an I-20. We guide you on how to get it quickly.

Yes, but strictly **On-Campus** for up to 20 hours/week during classes and 40 hours/week during breaks. Off-campus work (like gas stations/motels) is illegal in the first year and can lead to deportation. After 1 year, you can do CPT (internships) relevant to your field.

You need to show liquid funds (Savings, FD, Loan) covering **1 year of Tuition + Living costs** (approx $40k-$60k depending on the uni). For the remaining years, you just need to show a 'plan' on how you will fund it (e.g., parents' income).

They are tricky because they are face-to-face and last only 2 minutes! The officer judges your 'intent'. If you look like a potential immigrant, they reject you. We conduct **Mock Interviews** to train you on confidence, body language, and the 'right' answers.

Yes! This is the '2+2' model. You do 2 years at a cheaper Community College and then transfer credits to a University for the final 2 years. Your degree will bear the University's name. It saves a lot of money!

Great news! The lottery is now 'Beneficiary Centric'. This means one person gets one entry, regardless of how many job offers they have. This stops consultancies from gaming the system and increases chances for genuine students like you.

Yes, healthcare in the US is extremely expensive. Most universities mandate a student health insurance plan, which costs around $1,500-$2,500 per year. It is usually included in your fee bill.

On OPT, you have 90 days of 'unemployment allowance'. If you don't find a job related to your field by then, you may have to leave the US or transfer to another study program. We advise networking aggressively from Day 1.

UK

CAS stands for 'Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies'. It's a digital number issued by the UK university after you accept their offer and pay the deposit. You CANNOT apply for a UK Student Visa without a CAS number.

Yes! Many UK universities (including Russell Group) accept **70%+ marks in 12th Grade English** (CBSE/ICSE/GSEB). If you meet this, they waive off IELTS. (Gujlish: English ma 70 marks hoy to IELTS ni jarur nathi.)

Yes. As of now, you get a **2-Year Post Study Work Visa** after completing a Bachelor's or Master's. You can work in any job at any salary level during this period. For PhD graduates, it is 3 years.

**Important Update:** As of Jan 2024, students on standard Masters courses CANNOT bring dependents. You can only bring a spouse if you are studying a **Research Masters (MRes)** or a **PhD**. We can help you find research courses.

Before issuing a CAS, universities conduct a strict video interview to check if you are a genuine student. They ask about your course modules, campus location, and career plans. EEC prepares you thoroughly for this.

During term-time (classes), you can work **20 hours/week**. During official university holidays (Summer/Christmas/Easter), you can work **Full-Time**. Many students cover their living expenses this way.

The Immigration Health Surcharge (IHS) is a fee you pay with your visa application to access the UK's National Health Service (Free doctors/hospitals). The student rate is **£776 per year**.

This is crucial! The money for your tuition and living expenses must be in your bank account for **28 consecutive days** before you submit the visa application. The bank letter must not be older than 31 days.

Yes. If you find a sponsored job paying above the threshold (approx £30,960 for new entrants), you can switch to a **Skilled Worker Visa** immediately, even before finishing your PSW.

UK Visas are very fast! Standard service takes about 15 working days. Priority service takes 5 days. Super Priority gets you a decision by the **next working day**!

Canada

Canada introduced a cap to manage numbers. You now need a **Provincial Attestation Letter (PAL)** along with your offer letter to file a visa for UG/Diploma courses. **Good News:** Master's and PhD students are EXEMPT from this cap!

It's a secure investment. You transfer **$22,895 CAD** to a Canadian bank (like CIBC/Scotia). Upon arrival, they release $2,000 immediately and the rest in monthly installments for your living expenses. It proves you have money to survive.

The SDS (Student Direct Stream) officially ended in Nov 2024. All applications are now **Standard**. This means showing strong financial proofs (ITR, Liquid Assets) and 1-year tuition payment is even more important for approval.

Yes, Canada offers one of the best PR pathways. After your studies, you get a PGWP (Work Permit). Gain 1 year of skilled work experience (TEER 0, 1, 2, 3) and you can apply for PR via **Express Entry (CEC)** or PNP.

Post-Graduation Work Permit. If you study for 8 months to 2 years, you get a permit equal to course length. If you study for **2 years or more**, you get a **3-Year Open Work Permit**. (Note: Masters grads get 3 years even for <2 year courses).

It gets cold, yes! But cities like **Vancouver** and **Toronto** are manageable. Plus, Canada has excellent infrastructure—heated buses, underground paths (PATH system), and insulated houses. You adapt quickly!

Be careful. Switching institutions without a valid reason can risk your visa status. You must notify IRCC via your online account if you change DLI (Designated Learning Institution).

Yes. An upfront medical exam by an IRCC-approved panel physician is mandatory for Indian students. The receipt is attached to your visa application.

**New Rule:** Spouses of students in Undergraduate/College Diploma programs are generally **NOT** eligible for an Open Work Permit anymore. Spouses of **Master's and PhD** students ARE eligible. Choose your course wisely!

We order GCMS notes to see the exact reason (e.g., Financials, Purpose of Visit). Then we re-file with a stronger SOP and better documentation. EEC specializes in overturning refusals.

Australia

GS replaced the old GTE rule. The visa officer assesses if you are genuinely going for studies or just to work. They check your economic situation in India, potential future in Australia, and course relevance. Generic answers = Refusal.

Australia is strict. A gap of 1-2 years is acceptable with justification. For longer gaps (3-5 years), you must show solid work experience with salary slips and IT returns. Fake experience letters are easily caught.

Studying in 'Regional Areas' (like Perth, Adelaide, Gold Coast) gives you **extra PR points** and an **extra 1-2 years** on your Post Study Work visa compared to Sydney/Melbourne.

Yes! You usually pay only the **first semester's fee** to get the CoE (Confirmation of Enrolment) for the visa. You don't need to pay the full year upfront.

You must show funds for 1 Year Tuition + Living ($29,710 AUD) + Travel. Acceptable sources: Education Loan, Savings (3 months old), or Fixed Deposits. Funds must be 'genuinely accessible'.

There is no strict age limit for the Student Visa (500), but older applicants face higher scrutiny on 'Career Progression'. However, the **Post Study Work Visa (485)** now has an age limit of **35 years** (with some exceptions for Research).

Yes, students can work **48 hours per fortnight** (approx 24 hours/week) while the course is in session and unlimited hours during breaks. The minimum wage is high (~$24 AUD/hour).

Universities and Countries are rated by Australian Immigration. India is currently high-risk. Applying to 'Level 1' universities (like Group of 8) requires less financial documentation compared to Level 2 or 3 colleges.

Yes. **OSHC (Overseas Student Health Cover)** is mandatory for the entire duration of your visa. You must pay this premium upfront before visa filing.

New Rule: You cannot transfer from a University (Higher Ed) to a cheaper VET (Vocational) college for the first 6 months. The 'Concurrent Study' loophole has been closed to stop non-genuine students.

Europe (Germany / France)

Yes! Most **Public Universities** charge €0 tuition fees (only a semester contribution of €200-€300). However, the Technical University of Munich (TUM) has started charging fees for non-EU students. Check specifically for your uni.

For Germany, you must transfer **€12,324** (approx ₹11-12 Lakhs) to a blocked bank account (like Expatrio/Fintiba). This money is released to you monthly (€1,027) for living expenses. It proves you can survive there.

For **studying**: No, we select English-taught programs. For **living/jobs**: YES. Knowing A1/A2 level helps immensely with part-time jobs and social life. France and Germany both offer PR benefits if you learn the language.

After completing a Master's degree (or higher) in France, you are eligible for the **12-month APS** (Autorisation Provisoire de Séjour) — a post-study work permit with full work rights. Additionally, Indian alumni may apply for a 5-Year Schengen Circulation Visa for business/tourism travel (note: this is a travel visa, NOT a work/residence permit).

For Germany, Indian students MUST get an **APS Certificate** verifying their academic documents. It costs ₹18,000 and takes 3-4 weeks. You cannot apply for a visa without it.

Yes! A student visa from any Schengen country (Germany, France, Italy, etc.) allows you to travel visa-free to **29 European countries** like Switzerland, Spain, and Netherlands during your holidays.

Italy is famous for the **DSU Scholarship**. It is income-based. If your family income is low, you can get 100% Tuition Waiver + Free Canteen Meals + Free Hostel. We help you file the complex paperwork for this.

Germany has a massive shortage of engineers and IT professionals. France is great for Luxury, Fashion, and Business. Ireland is the IT hub of Europe (Google/Meta HQs). The 'Blue Card' makes working across EU easier.

Yes, especially in cities like Munich, Dublin, and Paris. We advise students to apply for student dorms (Studentenwerk/CROUS) months in advance or book private housing before flying.

Germany gives an **18-month** Job Seeker Visa. France gives **12-24 months** (APS). Ireland gives **2 years**. You have ample time to find a skilled job and convert to a Work Permit.
