The dMAT (Digital Master Assessment Test) is a standardized aptitude test developed by g.a.s.t., the German organisation behind TestDaF and TestAS, and evaluated centrally at the TestDaF Institute in Bochum. German universities use it to compare Master's applicants from different education systems on one scale.
For Indian students it sits inside the APS India process. If you apply for a German Master's programme for Summer Semester 2027 or any later intake and your bachelor's degree falls in one of the three field groups, you take the dMAT before your APS verification is complete. It does not replace document checks, degree recognition or university admission decisions.
Already registered with APS before 29 June 2026, holding an APS certificate, or coming through an official exchange or double-degree programme? Then the requirement does not apply to you. Degrees in medicine, law, pharmacy, architecture, pure sciences, arts and humanities are outside the three field groups. Read the full list in our affected degree fields guide.

APS India classifies borderline cases from the official degree title on your certificates, not from marketing course names.
Two 90-minute parts separated by a 30-minute break, entirely in English. No notes, no rough paper, no calculator.
Part 1 · Core Module (90 min)
Matrix series where figures shift position, colour and orientation by hidden rules. You predict the next two matrices.
Systems of equations with letter unknowns between 1 and 20. Solve them fast, in your head, with no rough paper.
A 5x5 grid where every letter appears once per row and column. Pure deduction under a hard clock.
Part 2 · Subject Module (90 min)
A typical problem from your field group followed by single-choice questions. It tests how you apply knowledge, not what you have memorised.
One-month intensive course. Need more practice time before your test date? Extend at ₹5,000 per month.
Want to talk first? Reserve Your Seat with a free counselling call.
Already an EEC dMAT student?
Extend your batch access by one more month for ₹5,000. Your remaining days are kept, not replaced. Checkout with the same email or phone you enrolled with; it only works on an existing dMAT enrollment.
What the course includes
Linear equations, substitution, rearrangement and fast mental arithmetic, drilled until 20 systems in 25 minutes feels routine.
Movement, rotation, colour-cycle and x+1 progression rules from the official figure-sequence task type, practised at all three difficulty levels.
Row-column elimination technique for Latin squares, so you fill hidden cells in your head instead of guessing.
Timing plans per subtest, when to guess (the official guidance says never leave blanks), and no-notes mental workflows for test day.
Twelve slides covering the requirement, the pattern, the dates and the registration steps for the 2026-27 cycle.

EEC has coached test-takers since 1997 and runs a dedicated Germany admissions desk. The faculty who train you for the dMAT sit next to the counsellors who manage your APS file, university shortlist and visa documentation, so nothing gets lost between coaching and application.
