Understanding the DELE A1 Exam Format
The DELE A1 exam has 4 sections split into 2 groups. It is administered by Instituto Cervantes, not by EEC — EEC's course is aligned to this format so you know exactly what to expect if you choose to register for it.
Reading Comprehension
45 minutes · Group 1 (with Writing)
- Task 1: Match texts to statements (signs, notices, ads)
- Task 2: Multiple choice on short everyday texts
- Task 3: Match people to texts (personal needs)
- Task 4: Gap-fill from a basic text
Written Expression
25 minutes · Group 1 (with Reading)
- Task 1: Fill out a form (personal details, registration)
- Task 2: Write a short message (email, note, postcard)
- 30–40 words for the message task
Listening Comprehension
