Common questions about Denmark.

The Establishment Card scheme was abolished on 1 April 2023 and replaced by a 3-year job-seeking residence permit. Full work rights during this period.

Yes. If you are enrolled in a state-approved Bachelor's, Master's or PhD program, your spouse can join as accompanying family. They get FULL work rights (no hour cap). You must show additional funds of approx DKK 89,112 (12 × DKK 7,426 — 2026 level matching the SU rate) for the spouse per SIRI 2026.

90 hours per month during the normal period of study (September–May), and full-time during June, July and August summer break (per SIRI / nyidanmark.dk, current rule effective 1 July 2024).

Standard track is 8 years of legal residence. Fast-Track PR allows Permanent Residency in 4 years if you pass Danish Language Test 3 (PD3), maintain qualifying employment with high income, and pass the Active Citizen Exam.

You need to show liquid funds (bank statement) of approx DKK 89,112 (12 × DKK 7,426/month — 2026 level matching the Danish SU rate) in your own name. Denmark is strict on 'self-sponsorship' — funds in parents' accounts are often questioned unless transferred to you.
