Canada Express Entry CRS 2026: Latest Cut-Offs, Score Calculator, Category Draws — Complete Guide for Indian Students
Vrutika Makwana
Canada Admissions & Visitor Visa Counselor, EEC
Vrutika Makwana runs EEC's Canada admissions desk plus Canada-family visa coordination — Visitor (TRV), Spouse (SOWP), Super Visa for parents, and Study Permit Extensions. Canada work covers SDS-route applications for Designated Learning Institutions (DLIs), GIC setup (CAD 22,895 for 2026), PAL letter coordination for Ontario and BC, biometric VFS scheduling, and PGWP post-study planning. Family-visa work uses the same dossier discipline — Vrutika handles dual-intent demonstrations and consolidated source-of-funds packaging that visa officers expect when student + parent visas land in parallel. She partners with Mayuri Makwana on the visa side and consults CA Madhav Gupta on Canada GIC + sponsor-affidavit structuring. EEC has been ICEF IAS accredited since 2011.

Canada Express Entry is the country's flagship federal economic immigration system, managing three permanent-residence programmes — Federal Skilled Worker (FSWP), Canadian Experience Class (CEC) and Federal Skilled Trades Programme (FSTP). The Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) scores each candidate out of 1,200 points based on age, education, language, work experience, Canadian credentials and arranged employment. IRCC invites top-ranked candidates via regular draws every two weeks. For 2026, general draw cut-offs have ranged between 524 and 547, while category-based draws have lower thresholds — STEM around 491, Healthcare around 423. EEC offers PR consulting through licensed RCIC partners.
What is Canada Express Entry 2026
Express Entry is an online points-based system run by IRCC (Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada) since 2015. Candidates create an online profile with their age, education, language scores, work experience and Canadian credentials. Profiles are ranked on the CRS scale and top-ranked candidates receive Invitations to Apply (ITAs) for permanent residency. From November 2022 onwards, IRCC also runs category-based draws targeting specific labour market needs.
Minimum CRS Score for 2026
Recent CRS cut-offs in IRCC general program-wide draws have ranged between 524 and 547. For Provincial Nominee Programme (PNP) draws, cut-off is typically 700+ because of the 600-point PNP boost. Category-based draws have lower cut-offs — STEM around 491, Healthcare around 423, Trades around 410, French-language as low as 336 (lowest 2024 cut-off; recent draws 400–419 in April 2026). Cut-offs change every draw — always check the official IRCC source on canada.ca before submitting your profile.

How Indian Students Boost CRS
Top boosts available to Indian applicants: Provincial Nomination (+600), Valid Job Offer (+50 for NOC 0/A/B, +200 for senior NOC TEER 0 major group 00), Canadian Education (+15 for 1-year diploma, +30 for 2+ year diploma or master's), French CLB 7 (+50 with English CLB 5+: total +50 to +74), Sibling in Canada (+15), CLB 9+ English in all four bands (+136 to +260 in transferability). The single highest-impact action is securing a provincial nomination — it almost guarantees an ITA.
Category-Based Draws 2026
Category-based draws target specific labour market needs. For 2026, IRCC retained ten categories and REMOVED Agriculture & Agri-Food (which had run in 2023-2025): STEM occupations (engineers, software developers, data scientists), Healthcare and Social Services (registered nurses, pharmacists, social workers), Skilled Trades (electricians, plumbers, welders, carpenters), Transport (long-haul truck drivers, pilots, freight handlers), Education (early-childhood educators, post-secondary teachers), French-language proficiency (NCLC 7+ regardless of occupation), Physicians, Researchers, Senior Managers, and select Canadian Armed Forces members. NOC TEER for Indian Jobs

IRCC replaced the older NOC skill-level system in November 2022 with the NOC 2021 TEER system. TEER stands for Training, Education, Experience and Responsibilities. TEER 0 = management, TEER 1 = university-degree professional, TEER 2 = college-diploma or supervisor, TEER 3 = college-or-apprenticeship, TEER 4 = secondary-school occupations, TEER 5 = on-the-job training. Eligible NOC TEER codes for FSWP and CEC: 0, 1, 2 and 3. Indian software engineers fall under NOC 21232 (TEER 1), nurses under 31301, doctors under 31102.
Language Tests Accepted by IRCC
For permanent residence, IRCC accepts: IELTS General Training (not Academic), CELPIP General, PTE Core (IRCC approved in late 2023; first tests administered February 2024) for English; TEF Canada and TCF Canada for French. Scores must be valid (not older than 2 years at the time of application). Minimum CLB 7 in all four skills is required for FSWP. Higher scores (CLB 9+) yield significant CRS boost — IELTS GT L 8.0 / R 7.0 / W 7.0 / S 7.0 maps to CLB 9 and gives maximum language points.
Express Entry Processing Time
IRCC service standard for Express Entry is 6 months from full PR application submission after ITA. In practice 2025–26 processing times: FSWP 5–7 months, CEC 4–6 months, FSTP 6–10 months. The full Express Entry pathway: profile creation (1 day) → wait for ITA (2 weeks to 18 months depending on CRS) → submit full application within 60 days of ITA → medical exam, police clearance and biometrics (45 days) → final PR decision (4–6 months). EEC PR cases average end-to-end 9–12 months.
PGWP to Express Entry Pathway
For most Indian students, the PGWP-to-Express-Entry pathway delivers the strongest CRS scores. A Canadian master's degree (+30 CRS), 1+ year Canadian skilled work experience (+40 to +80 CRS), CLB 9 English (+136) and age 24–29 (+110) routinely push a graduate to 480–520 CRS without nomination — close to recent program-wide cut-offs. With provincial nomination it's automatic. Read related Canada PR after study guide.
