Frequently Asked Questions
Australia student visa, Genuine Student requirement, free counseling, and EEC services.
Is EEC's counseling service really free?
Yes, absolutely. Our services for students, from university selection to visa filing, are 100% free. We are officially funded by the Australian universities we partner with, so you don't have to pay us anything. EEC has been providing free counseling services since 1997.
How much money do I need to show for the Australian student visa?
You need to demonstrate funds for your first year of tuition fees, plus living expenses for one year (approximately AUD 29,710 as per 2025 rates), OSHC health insurance, and travel costs (approximately AUD 2,500). The total amount varies based on your course and institution. Our Funds Calculator tool can provide a personalized estimate.
What are the 2026 intake deadlines for Australian universities?
For the major July 2026 intake (Semester 2), applications should be submitted between January and March 2026. For the February 2027 intake (Semester 1), apply between September and November 2026. Early applications are recommended as popular courses fill quickly.
Can I work in Australia on a student visa?
Yes, Australian student visa holders can work up to 48 hours per fortnight while their course is in session, and unlimited hours during scheduled course breaks. This provides excellent opportunities to gain work experience and support living expenses.
What is the new Genuine Student (GS) requirement?
The Genuine Student (GS) requirement replaced the previous Genuine Temporary Entrant (GTE) requirement in March 2024. It involves answering specific questions in your visa application about your choice of course, education provider, why you chose Australia, and how the qualification will benefit your future career. EEC's AI-powered GS preparation tool helps students prepare compelling responses.
