NMC OET Score Requirement
The UK NMC requires OET Grade B (350+ on the 0–500 scale) in Reading, Listening and Speaking AND Grade C+ (300+) in Writing. CBT and OSCE Tests
CBT (Computer-Based Test) is a 4-hour theory exam testing nursing knowledge in 3 papers (numerical, theoretical, situational judgement). Available at Pearson test centres in India — pass once and it stays valid through OSCE attempt. OSCE (Objective Structured Clinical Examination) is a 6-station practical assessment held only in the UK at NMC-approved test centres (Northampton, London). Each station is 10–15 minutes and tests clinical scenarios. OSCE pass rate ranges 60–75% for well-prepared Indian candidates. Up to 3 attempts within 12 months.
OET vs IELTS for UK NMC
For Indian nurses, OET is generally easier and more popular for UK NMC. Can I Apply From India?
Yes. The entire UK NMC application process up to the CBT can be completed from India. OET is offered at 13+ Indian centres (Mumbai, Delhi, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Chennai, Pune, Ahmedabad, Kolkata, Kochi, Coimbatore, Lucknow, Chandigarh, Jaipur) plus OET@Home. CBT is offered at Pearson Professional centres in India. Only the OSCE requires travel to the UK — approximately 6 weeks before the test date is enough notice.
